When we started his room we sat Beckham down and talked to him about things he wanted in his room. He really wanted a rock wall and a climbing rope. So we plotted out his room and started. We painted mountains on the wall, we just taped it off and went for it. We then decided what type of rock wall we wanted. We decided we wanted to get handles that looked more natural like rocks. We go a 4×8 sheet of maple ply and sprayed it with a clear coat. We then screwed that to the studs. All the handles you see that are not on the wood wall are screw into studs.
After we got the rock wall up we discussed doing a bunk bed or a floating bed. We ended on floating bed. We though it would be fun that he could climb the wall into his bed. I just love the way it turned out. He wanted something that he could climb into. We though it would be fun to have the bed floating, so he could climb his rock wall into bed.
As you can imagine things with our sweet boy have changed a lot in just 2 years, the toys he plays with things he likes to do and so on. So last week we cleaned out old toys, organized the books he likes, got ride of the ones he was to big for. We added new fun bean bag chairs, I just love the ones from Serene and Lily, that I got for him. It is not your classic bean bag chair. It has a back so it is the perfect lounge position. I got it in color bark. He wanted to have more spots where his friends could sit and hang out. They love to play bay blades, climb on the rope and climbs on the rock wall. They also just hang out and chill. Before they would all just sit on the ground. This makes it so there is more seating for him and his friends to chill. These are just the perfect chairs for any kids room or play room.
Another thing that has not changed is his love for is his nerf guns, so I grabbed the XL basket from Serena and Lily because no other basket is big enough to hide all his big nerf guns. I love Serena and Lily’s baskets because they are just such great quality, and come in 3 different sizes. You can use them for SO many different things. I have the small one on the main floor as a basket for a tree. You can used them for laundry hampers, toys, blankets the list goes on.
I grabbed the largest one and that’s where we hide all his guns, and any over sized toy. You guys I am not kidding the basket is so big, I feel I could fit in it hahaha. I am so thrilled with how this space has come together. I also swapped out the boob light. I got the new one on Amazon for $30. It looks so good, and is so much brighter of a light. It also looks a thousand times better. Little by little I am getting all the boob lights swapped out. Got new art and a new rug to pull the whole space together. His room was 90% done for years and It was just missing the last finished touches. Now it finally looks complete.
I hope this space give you some inspiration for you little one. Remember you don’t have to be a professional to try things. You only learn by doing. That is one thing I love about DIY and trying new things. You will never know what you can do and accomplish with out trying.
Climbing rope (we have 8 foot ceiling I got the 10 foot rope and tied knots)
